 URBAN LEADERS TO ADDRESS
NATIONAL TOWN HALL MEETING:

ARCHER, KIRK, GOODE, BARRY, MORIAL AND HERENTON TO SPEAK ON AN URBAN AGENDA

Detroit, MI -- March 13, 2005 -- Freedom Institute Founder, Rev. Wendell Anthony announced today that urban issues will be the focus of Freedom Weekend IV’s Town Hall Meeting. Mayor Willie Herenton of Memphis, and former Mayors Dennis Archer, Sr. (Detroit), Ron Kirk (Dallas), Dr. Wilson Goode (Philadelphia), Marion Barry (Washington, DC), Marc Morial (New Orleans) and President of the National Urban League. The National Town Hall Meeting will be held Saturday April 30, 2005, 5:00 p.m. at Cobo Center.

Anthony called the Town Hall meeting historic, “We will have assembled in one place African American mayors who have lead some of our nation’s most important and most challenged cities. This is an outstanding lineup of front line leaders in the urban arena.”  Anthony said the Town Hall meeting would address urban issues and solutions and include participation from audience members.

The event is free and open to the public. Freedom Weekend IV sponsors are D.O.C Optics Corporation, Bank One, Grand Sakwa Properties, Youth Endowment Fund, and the Detroit Branch NAACP. For details call the Freedom Institute at 313-533-5053.

The Freedom Institute is a 501©3 non-profit African American think tank that brings together public policy makers and activists from around the country to educate the public about issues that impact the health, education, and welfare of African Americans and to make policy recommendations about those issues.
