Young Filmmakers Festival Freedom Weekend (4/29)
Detroit –April 11, 2006 -- The Young Filmmakers Festival is intended for students ages 14 to 21. Monica Hayes, coordinator for the event, states that, “We want to highlight students interested in not just the acting aspect of film, but behind the scenes portion of film: directing, writing and production.
A filmmaker’s workshop will take place Friday, April 28th at 10:00 a.m., which will discuss filmmaking more in depth in rooms 0241-0242.
The Film Festival will be held in Wayne Hall on Saturday, April 29, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Following the Freedom Weekend Film Festival, the winners will be announced. Each of the participants will receive a $100.00 Savings Bond and will showcase their film. The following Detroit Public Schools films will be showcased.

The event is free and open to the public.
