Freedom Institute brings a Cultural
Icon to Freedom Weekend V
Power Economics Summit (Thurs., 4/27)

Detroit, MI April 22, 2004 -- On Thursday, April 27, 2006 the Freedom Institute will host its annual Freedom Weekend Power Economics Summit at Cobo Conference Center. This year’s keynote speaker is the national renowned President Emeritus of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Rev. Joseph Lowery.

Rev. Lowery, often referred to as “The Dean of the Civil Rights Movement,” under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., formed the SCLC.  Since then, Lowery has been an active voice in the African American Community pertaining to all aspects of civil rights. 

Rev. Lowery is a recipient of the NAACP’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the Martin Luther King Jr. Center Peace Award, as well as the National Urban League's Whitney M. Young, Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award.

Registration begins at 7:00 am in the Cobo’s Main Lobby.
