Freedom Weekend V Showcases Young Inventors Contest Fair (4/29)
Detroit – April 15, 2006 – In an effort to uphold the interest of a younger demographic, the Freedom Institute will introduce Freedom Weekend’s Inaugural Young Inventors Fair on April 29, 2006 at Cobo Center – Wayne Hall at 11:00 a.m. This event is free and open to the public.
“We are trying to get students to use their creativity, and expand from the ordinary science-fair type projects into actual inventions and showcase them for the community, said Monica Hayes, Youth Coordinator for the Freedom Institute. “The Freedom Institute realizes the importance of encouraging young people to explore careers in the area of science and engineering, and this Young Inventors Contest aims to promote that,” she said.
Patent attorneys will be available on site to answer any questions and to provide information on patenting their inventions.
The Young Inventors 12 to 18 years of age was invited to submit entries to compete in this Fair. Entries will be displayed in Wayne Hall.
Detroit Public, Hamtramck, Ecorse, Highland Park and Southfield schools, as well as students across the Metro area, were urged to participate.
